Product information of the RFOU Cables 3.6kV up to 36kV

Application

The RFOU cables are for medium voltage (MV) power fixed installations for both EX- and safe areas, general purposes. For installation in areas exposed to mud and drilling/cleaning fluids.

Advantages

  • Flexible
  • Halogen-free
  • Oil resistant

Applicable in ATEX zones

Cables used in ATEX zones need to comply with certain (construction) requirements. The RFOU cables meet these requirements. We will give you two examples. Empty spaces between the cores are not allowed as this makes the transportation of flammable liquids and gasses possible. Therefore, the bedding or the inner sheath of the cable needs to be pressed. Another requirement is that the outer sheath of the cable must be made of an elastomer, a thermoplastic or a thermoset material.

Advantages of the RFOU Cables 3.6kV up to 36kV

Flexible

The RFOU cables are flexible cables, ideal for mobile use. This means that these cables can be used several times and can be applied for temporary purposes. In addition, it is easy to handle and pliant making it easy and compact to store. Its flexibility is also an advantage for small-spaced fixed installations as smaller bends can be made. Due to the flexibility of the cable, it is easier and faster to install, which saves more time and reduces costs.

Halogen-free

Halogen-free cables such as the RFOU cables do not produce toxic gases in case of fire. This means that the cables do not contain fluorine, chlorine, bromine, iodine or astatine which causes toxic gases during a fire. Toxic gases can damage equipment and limit chances for people to escape because gases are deadly. This cable has a higher fire safety, causes less damage in case of a fire and is environmentally-friendly.

Oil resistant

The RFOU cables are oil resistant which means the cables can withstand aggressive oil containing substances. These substances will not affect the cable, the functionality of the cables will be maintained and the risk of irreparable damage is lower.

Tinned Copper Wired Braiding (TCWB)

The advantage of a tinned copper wired braiding is that it protects the RFOU cables from outside electromagnetic fields. This kind of armouring is widely applied to flexible cables where corrosion occurs due to (weather) conditions, like in the offshore. An additional advantage of the TCWB armouring is that it strengthens the cable.

Mud resistant

Mud resistant cables like the RFOU cables, need to have an outer sheath which is composed of materials that can withstand the negative effects of mud. This is common for cables which meet the NEK 606 standards. These cables have an outer sheath which meets the test requirements as stated in the IEC 60092-359.

Flame retardant

Cables used to be responsible for spreading fire. The RFOU cables are flame retardant. This means that these cables are designed in a way that they will not spread fire. Cables with these advantages are often used in buildings and at locations where people live, work and travel / move.
